Paul Nibert, age 86, of Gallipolis, died Sunday morning October 28, 2012 at his residence. Born August 29, 1926 in Gallipolis. He was the son of the late Riley and Freda Williams Nibert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by, a son, Roger Lee Miller, 2 sisters, Grace Carman and Rosalee Northup, and by an infant brother.
Paul was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in World War II on an aircraft carrier. He retired from Holzer Medical Center, where he worked as the Supervisor of the maintenance department, retiring after 39 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post #27, and the VFW Post #4464. Paul also enjoyed bowling in the Skyline Lanes Men's Bowling Leagues for many years, continuing until last year.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Burgess Nibert, 5 children, Melanie Barbaric of Pensacola, FL., Sandy Gibson of Huntington, Linda Miller of Columbus, Paulette (Archie) Saunders of Gallipolis, and Patricia Golden of Gallipolis. 9 grandchildren, Tad Saunders, Marlene (Keith) Casebolt, Lisa (Jeff) Moles, Eric Blackburn, Cristina (Tom) York, Jeff Price, John Price, Lori Price, and Melissa Price. 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and 1 sister, Hilda Quickle of Cheshire,
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Wednesday October 31, 2012 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from Noon until the time of service.
Pall Bearers are Tad Saunders, Jeff Moles, Brody Moles, Tom York, Adam Massie, and Nick Stevens. Honorary Pall Bears are Reece York and John Burnett
Military Funeral Honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.
