Ruth Eileen Whitt, age 95, of Bidwell died Monday morning March 10, 2025 at Holzer Senior Care. She was born March 27, 1929 in Summit County, to the late Garnet and Darlene Nance Straight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Basil Whitt; brothers, Eugene Straight and Garnet Straight Jr.; and by a sister, Lawana Hammond.

Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Waterloo High School and a homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and watching her grandson Hayden in his activities and performances. She was also an original Rio Rooter, following the Rio Grande Ladies Basketball team to all their games.

Ruth is survived by her son, Dale (Paula) Whitt of Bidwell; grandson, Eric (Abby) Whitt of Gallipolis; great grandchild, Hayden Whitt of Gallipolis; sisters, Eugenia White of Pataskala, Patricia Hale of Galloway, Brenda Burnette of Gallipolis and Juanita Roach of Waterloo; and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Thursday March 13, 2025 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Ron Hammond officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Hope Mausoleum at  Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 AM. till the time of service.

Pallbearers will be: Eric Whitt, Hayden Whitt, John Sipple, Chris Burnette, Keith Edmonds and Randy Hammond.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either Holzer Senior Care Center or the Rio Grande Women's Basketball program in Ruth's memory.
