SHANE JEREMY TACKETT 3/27/1974 - 6/13/16
There is a constant battle between darkness and light. The sun gives way to the shadows of the moon, only to beat back the blackness with the first tinges of light the next morning. We see this battle play out on a daily basis in nature. This battle also plays out on a day to day basis in our souls. We are born into this world children of light and goodness. But often, sometimes by chance and many times by choice as we age we spend too much time in a darkness that threatens to nip our heels and bury its teeth. Most of us can keep the darkness at bay, yet some of us have a harder time beating down the shadows. Shane Jeremy Tackett fought the shadows his entire life, but he refused to give in to the darkness. He had a mirth, a genuine lightheartedness, which was infectious to those who knew him. Shane was always quick with a joke, an offer of help, or to point out the obvious. He was a lover of shoes, sports cars, the Michigan Wolverines, the Oakland Raiders, his cat Bailey and his dog Bella. Shane was a soul that although in constant conflict, always shone just a little brighter than normal and his laugh made you feel a part of the joke whether you heard it or not. He will be sorely missed.
Shane lost his life in a tragic accident and he was taken from this earth before he got victory over the darkness, but he was winning the war and now he is at peace. Shane is survived by a daughter Caytlyn Morgan Hall and a son, Trenton Reed Osborne and a step son, Travis Reynolds and wife Brandy Shaffer. He is also survived by his sister Kim Tackett Jolley (Kent) and his step father Roger Hingst and paternal grandmother Juanita Tackett. Shane is preceded in death by his father Charles Melburn Tackett and his mother Rebecca Hingst, a son Cameron Mikel Tackett, paternal grandfather Melburn C. Tackett and paternal grandmother Doris Tackett, maternal grandfather John Damron and maternal grandmother Edith Ratliff Damron.
There is no explanation or justification for tragedy, only acceptance and perseverance. To keep going and to keep strong the light of Shane's memory is the best way to honor the battle he fought. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Saturday June 18, 2016 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the United States Air Force. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from Noon until the time of service. Pallbearers will be: Mike Adams, Dustin Nunn, Chris Wilcoxon, Travis Reynolds, Scott Jividen, Mark Tackett, Scott Tackett, and Brandon McQuaid. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Trenton Osborne, Kent Jolley and Kevin Jolley. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the funeral home to help with Shane's funeral expenses.
