Our beloved Sharon C. (Waugh) Tackett, age 81 passed away February 3, 2023 at her home, surrounded by family. She was born on December 11, 1941 in Gallia County, Ohio to the late Lester and Vernoka White Waugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Waugh and sister-in-law, Dawn Waugh.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Freel Tackett whom she married on July 5, 1958. Together they had four children, Bret (Karen) Tackett, Carl (Missy) Tackett, Penny (Rex) Justice and Christopher (Jody) Tackett who all survive. She was proud of and loved her eight grandchildren, Brent (Karen) Tackett, Susan (Steve) Guy, Joe (Crystal) Justice, Casee (Brent) Harris, Jenny Blake, Zach (Amber) Tackett, Travis Tackett and Kody Lambert, and she absolutely adored her nine great grandchildren, Jacob and Alec Tackett, Alden Guy, Jerah, Jace, Jansen and Jadah Justice, Harper Harris and Holden Tackett. She is also survived by her brother, Allen (Doris) Waugh and a nephew, Shawn Waugh.
Throughout her life, Sharon was known for many things, perhaps most of all her love of travel and shopping- she was always up for an adventure and could always find the best bargains!
She loved and had a natural talent for creating beautiful flower arrangements. She was a member of Harris Baptist Church and served the community through her partnership with TRIAD, S.A.L.T., The Democratic Party, and Senior Citizens- She particularly loved to help kids and the elderly.
Sharon will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the Holzer Hospice staff, especially her special angels, Kelsey and Leslie, as well as her caregivers, Linda and Jessie.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday February 7, 2023 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM.
Pallbearers will be: Brent Tackett, Susan Guy, Joe Justice, Casee Harris, Zach Tackett, Travis Tackett and Kody Lambert. Honorary pallbearer will be: Jenny Blake.
