Shelvia Jean Adkins, age 85, of Gallipolis, died Saturday October 9, 2021 at Valley View Care Center in Frankfort, OH. Born May 20, 1936 in Chapmanville, WV. She was the daughter of the late Charley and Ruby Ferris Dingess. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Jimmy Adkins, and by brothers and sisters, Paul Dingess, Jackie Dingess, Charles Dingess, Carl Dingess, Otis Dingess, Louise Hale, Leslie Dingess and by a stillborn brother, Tennis Dingess.

Shelvia retired from GDC.

She is survived by her son, Scott (Megan) Adkins of Bidwell, by 2 grandchildren, Braxton (Jessica) Adkins and Brayden Adkins and by 4 great grandchildren, Chloe Costilow, Chelsea Costilow, Westley Adkins and Jaxon Adkins. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 7:00 PM. Thursday October 14, 2021 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Dakota Wroten officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.
