Sherman Clyde Wilfong, age 59, of Vinton, died Wednesday morning April 24, 2013 at his residence. Born May 16, 1953 in Gallipolis. He was the son of the late Elbert Carl Wilfong and Sheila Faye Rowe Hash of Vinton. In addition to his Father, he was preceded by one son, Jeffery Casimir Daugherty, by two sisters, Brenda Wilfong, and Martha Tripplett, and by three brothers, Bobby Wilfong, Steve Wilfong, and Keith Stollings.
Sherman was a truck driver and a member of Deercreek Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by, his mother, Sheila Faye Rowe Hash of Vinton, wife, Colleen Marie Palmer Wilfong, three sons, Charles Daugherty of Vinton, Sherman Clyde (Shannon) Wilfong Jr. of Vinton, and Brian Karl (Heather) Wilfong of Ortonville, MI. Five grandchildren, Cindy, Devin, Jeffery, Dylan, and Jasmine. Four great grandchildren, Zoe, Madilyn, Laila, and James. One brother, George Wilfong of Marshall, VA. Five sisters, Kathy (Larry) Sibley of Vinton, Phyllis Wilfong of Oklahoma, Linda (Paul) Taylor of Knoxville, TN. Carla Skiver of Madison Heights, MI. and Robyn (Joe) Applebee of Madison Heights, MI.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Mickey Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 6-8 PM.
Pallbearers will be: Sherman Wilfong Jr, Brian Wilfong, JR. Daugherty, Jeffrey Daugherty, Dylan Wilfong, John Easterly, and Joe Applebee.
