Obituary

Stephen Rees Carter, 68 of Avon formerly of Rocky River , and Gallipolis passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Ames Hospice House, Westlake . Mr. Carter was a graduate of Gallia Academy , Gallipolis and a graduate of Ohio University where he was a member of the ROTC program and served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 in Korea .
Steve was the owner of Carter Tractor Sales in Gallipolis retiring in 2004. While in Gallipolis he was a member of the Elks Club, he enjoyed golf and was a fan of Ohio State Football and University of Kentucky Basketball . Steve was also a dog lover.
He is survived by his wife Patricia whom he married July 25, 1970, daughters Kari Samuels (Kevin) of Avon Lake , Jenny Currie ( Bryan ) of Medina and Megan Lange (Michael) of Avon Lake . Other survivors include 8 grandchildren Nolan, Piper, Carter, Mallory, Peyton, Noah, Connor and Elisabeth. He is also survived by his faithful Chocolate Labrador Retriever Maggie. Steve is preceded in death by a daughter Heather and his parents Nolan P. and Geneva C. (nee Rees) Carter.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. , Avon Lake, Tuesday, October 28 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A prayer service will be at the funeral home at 9:15am Wednesday followed by the mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church , 32929 Lake Rd. , at 10:00am. Fr. Ron Wearsch of the Church will officiate. Friends may also call a the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home 810 2nd. Avenue Gallipolis, from 5-8pm Friday October 31, with a prayer service at the funeral home at 12:00pm noon on Saturday and burial to follow at the Mound Hill Cemetery , Gallipolis
