Stephen James Provens, age 71 of Pataskala, died Saturday evening November 16, 2024 at Tuscany Gardens in Pataskala. Born November 27, 1952 in Gallia County, he was the son of the late Jasper and Ruby Fraley Provens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by an infant grandson, Kyle Provens.

Stephen was a retired Millwright. A 1970 graduate of Franklin Heights High School, where he excelled at football and was the team captain. He was strong in his faith, and loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered by his quick answer when asks,' how are you doing', he would always say' better than I deserve.'

He is survived by his children, Jason (Jill) Provens, daughter, Lori (Brian) Biefeld, sister, Kimberly (Scott) Pitts, brother, Rickey (Pamela) Provens, grandchildren, Chase, Tanner, Mackenzie and Austin Provens, Logan and Aliana Biefeld, and  nieces and nephews, Josh Pitts, Stacy (Matt) Skinner, Drew Provens and Ben Provens.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Sunday November 24, 2024 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Flag Springs Cemetery.  Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.
