Obituary

Vesta Tackett Parsons, age 87, of Columbus, formerly of Gallia County, passed from this life on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, after a short illness.

Vesta was born April 27, 1924 in Pike County, Kentucky; she was the daughter of the late Milton and Pearly Tackett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Parsons; two daughters, Sharon Yvonne Parsons and Linda Kay Parsons Miller; five brothers, Mont Tackett, Comas Tackett, Ireland Tackett, Maryland Tackett, and Lester Tackett; two sisters, Annie Marie Tackett and Louise Tackett Stollings; and by one grandson, Frank Donald Wilcox.

Vesta was a homemaker, and a Christian, who especially enjoyed attending services of the Old Regular Baptist Church whenever she was able to do so.

Mrs. Parsons is survived by three brothers, Clester (Virginia) Tackettt of Gallipolis, Sterling (Emma) Tackett of Sunbury, and Freel (Sharon) Tackett of Bidwell; one sister, Beatrice (Ray) Hamilton of South Rockwood, MI; two sons, Larry (Glenda) Parsons of Little River, TX and John (Mary) Parsons of Frankfort; three daughters, Judy (Will) Harris of Heath, Shirley (Frank) Wilcox of Westerville, and Sheila (Bryan) McKee of Circleville; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and by many more relatives and friends whose lives she touched every day.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday July 12, 2011 (today) at the Little Pearl Old Regular Baptist Church with Elder Ray Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home on Monday.
