Virginia M. Saunders, age 86, of Bidwell, died Friday morning March 1, 2013 at Holzer Medical Center. Born November 1, 1926 in Gallia County. She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Flossie Pinkerman Gothard. In addition to her parents, Virgina was preceded by a son, Robert Saunders, and by 2 brothers, Marshall and James G. Gothard.
Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bill Saunders. 2 children, Verdonna Slaughter of Grove City, and David Saunders of Grove City. 5 grandchildren, Niki (Matt) Brittain, Bobbi Jo Saunders, Stephenie (Jessie) Willis, Luke Saunders, and Kennison Saunders. 4 great grandchildren, Cameron Willis, Elijah Willis, Eden Willis and Ben Brittain. Also surviving is a special friend, Molly Martin of Gallipolis.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Monday March 4, 2013 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5-7 PM.
