Welthia May Persinger, age 92, of Brooksville, Florida and formerly of Gallipolis, died Thursday evening September 25, 2014 at the Bayfront Health Brooksville. Born October 22, 1921 in Gallia County, she was the daughter of the late Pleasant R. and Jesta C. Saunders Houck. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Gerald F. 'Jerry' Persinger, by 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 2 siblings who died in infancy and by 3 nephews and 1 niece.
She was a graduate of Mercerville High School. She was a former Psychiatric Aid at the Gallipolis State Institute, and later moved to Columbus where she worked and retired from the Columbus State Hospital. She was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary Chapter 6065 in Columbus.
She is survived by 1 brother, James Lee 'Jim' (Darlene) Houck of Grove City, 3 nieces, Barbara (Gene) Harbour of Brooksville, Florida with whom she made her home for 13 years, Melody (Mark) Weinheimer of Columbus, and Ruth Buchanan of Granville, and by 1 nephew, Richard Houck of Gallipolis.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Tuesday September 30, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Lusher officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday 1 hour prior to services.
