William H. 'Hud' Saunders, age 97, of Bidwell, died Monday June 11, 2018 at his residence. Born April 21, 1921 in Gallia County, Ohio he was the son of the late Sherley 'Sherl' Lawrence Saunders and the late Belva Halley Saunders. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his Wife; Opal Lee Caldwell Saunders; 1 Son; Robert 'Bob' Saunders; 1 Brother; Robert Saunders; and by 1 Great Great Grandchild; Brylee Stutes.

Hud was a United States Army Veteran during World War II. He was a retired Heavy Equipment operator and a member of the Operating Engineers. Hud served as a Springfield Township Trustee for several years. He loved being a Trustee. He was a beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather.

He is survived by 2 Daughters; Bonnie (Jim) Stutes of Gallipolis and Sande (Sam) Eisnaugle of Galloway; 6 Grandchildren; Preston (Mindy) Eisnaugle, Michael Stutes, Kim (Mark) Thompson, Jacob (Sarah) Saunders, Jordan (Chelsea) Saunders, and Jessica (Bruce) Young; Great Grandchildren; Elizabeth and John Thompson; Tyler Watson, Bretton Stutes, Preston Eisnaugle, Chantz Eisnaugle, Lilliann Saunders, Owen Saunders, and Adalee Saunders; Great Great Grandchildren; Carsten Stutes and Declan Michael Stutes; Sister; Shirley Cummons; and by a Niece; Eloise Ward.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday June 15, 2018 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor John O'Brien officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Hope Mausoleum at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until time of service.

Full Military Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.
