William Harold Wood, age 83, of Crown City, (the Mercerville community) died Sunday morning March 23, 2014 at his residence. Born April 14, 1930 in Cadmus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles William 'Bill' and Margaret Alban Wood. In addition to his parents he was preceded by 2 infant siblings.

Harold was a retired truck driver and also formerly worked on the river. He attended Cadmus High School and Rio Grande College. He was a member of Nebo Church and attended Mercerville Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of Patriot Masonic Lodge #496 where he had been a member for over 58 years. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, and Antioch Temple Shrine.

Harold is survived by his wife, Joan Dianne Stockwell Wood, who he married on August 10, 1968 in Springfield, Ohio. 2 children, Laura (Chris) Pennington and Charles (Karen) Wood, 3 grandchildren, John Wood, Margaret Pennington, and Andrew Wood all of Mercerville. Also surviving are 2 children from a previous marriage, Scott Wood and his children of Ohio, and Constance Walker and her daughter, Eva of Arizona and Harold's dear friends he considered to be family, Alma Stauffer, Ab (Jo) Stauffer and Mike (Peggy) Stauffer. There are also 2 step sons; he thought the world of, John Johnson who precedes Harold and Dennis Johnson.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Thursday March 27, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 PM. Masonic services will be conducted at 8:00 PM. Wednesday at the funeral home by Patriot Lodge #496.                                                                                   Following the committal service on Thursday, there will be a time of food and fellowship at Mercerville Missionary Baptist Church.                                                 An online guest registry is available at waugh-halley-wood.com
