Wylodine "Deanie" Smith Evans, age 88 of Gallipolis passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at her residence. Born on February 10, 1929 in LeSage, WV, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Mary Wood Kemper. In addition to her parents she preceded by her first husband Vaught "Doc" Smith to whom she was married for 52 years and her second husband J. Tim Evans for 10 years. She also preceded by a sister Reva K. Hall and a grandson Andrew Garrett Smith.
Deanie was a vibrant person who enjoyed life. Her passions included playing golf and bridge. Her competitive spirit lead her to become accomplished at both. She was a ladies club champion at the former Gallipolis Golf Course and a Silver Life Master in the American Continent Bridge League. She will be remembered by her gracious hospitality to her friends and family.
She is survived by her Children: Dr. Gary (Sandy) Smith of Midland, MI, Greg (Karen) Smith of Gallipolis, Ohio and Cynthia (Brett) Epling of Bidwell, Ohio; Grandchildren: Heather (Mike) Lunt, Sarah (Blane) Winslow, Adam (Cheryl) Smith, Kelli (Mike) Biehle, Chris (Jamie) Smith, Rob (Betsy) Smith, Tim (Amber) Epling, Aaron (Tiffany) Epling, and Holly (Andrew) Schmidt; 24 Great Grandchildren; Nephew: Fred (Sharon) Hall of West Jefferson, Ohio and by Step Daughter: Martha (Bob) Evans Huestis of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm. Saturday April 1, 2017 in the Chapel at Grace United Methodist Church with Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 pm. and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services.
Pallbearers will be: Mike Biehle, Adam, Chris and Rob Smith, Tim and Aaron Epling.
In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Gallipolis in Bloom, in care of Diana Parks, Ohio Valley Bank 420 Third Avenue Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
